Water Quality Monitoring and Pollution Control: Emerging Techniques for Sustainable Water Resources
Keywords:
pollution control, phytoremediation, membrane filtration, contaminated waterAbstract
Water quality monitoring and pollution control are essential for ensuring the sustainable management of water resources, which are increasingly threatened by pollution from industrial, agricultural, and domestic sources. Traditional methods of monitoring and pollution control are often limited by factors such as high costs, time delays, and insufficient spatial coverage. This review explores emerging techniques that address these challenges, highlighting advancements in remote sensing, smart sensors, biological monitoring, and automated monitoring stations. These innovative methods enable real-time data collection, increased sensitivity to pollutants, and improved efficiency in water quality management. Additionally, the review discusses new pollution control technologies, including green infrastructure, advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), phytoremediation, and membrane filtration, which offer sustainable and cost-effective solutions for treating contaminated water. The integration of these techniques into an integrated water quality management approach can enhance the efficiency and sustainability of water resource systems. The article concludes by emphasizing the need for continued research and innovation in water quality monitoring and pollution control to ensure clean, safe, and accessible water resources for future generations.
