Abstract

Over the recent past, the aviation industry has firmly concentrated on the importance of light weight and strong materials (composites mainly). This paper discusses the present uses and potential usage of composite materials in aircraft. Various parts of aircrafts are discussed in detail from materials point of view and additional weight shedding techniques are also discussed which do help in weight reduction of an aircraft.
