This paper explores how the dark web has transformed traditional identity theft methods—such as phishing, hacking, and social engineering—by providing an environment where criminals can buy, sell, and trade stolen personal data, including debit/credit card information, credentials related to net banking, social security numbers (aadhaar card number), and medical records. The dark web’s encrypted nature and illicit activities, enabling criminals to operate with greater anonymity and evade law enforcement detection. The research delves into how the dark web facilitates the rapid exchange of stolen personal data, exacerbating the risks of financial fraud, impersonation, and other criminal behaviours. It highlights the challenges faced by law enforcement in tracking and prosecuting these crimes due to the anonymity provided by dark web marketplaces. Furthermore, it examines the broader implications of identity theft for cybersecurity, personal privacy, and criminal justice systems. The purpose of this study is to raise awareness about the growing threat posed by the dark web in the context of identity theft and to address the gaps in legal and cybersecurity measures. Finally, the study advocates for stronger preventative measures, including better surveillance, better awareness regarding the Information Security measure, more stringent regulations, and global collaboration, to protect personal information and adapt to the evolving landscape of cybercrime.

Nidhi Dahiya, Harshita Bhardwaj Copyright (c) 2025 Journal of Advanced Research in Journalism & Mass Communication https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://adrjournalshouse.com/index.php/Journalism-MassComm/article/view/2188 Sat, 03 May 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Democracy in the Age of Media: A Review https://adrjournalshouse.com/index.php/Journalism-MassComm/article/view/2237
The relationship between media and democracy has evolved significantly in the digital age, where the rapid advancement of technology has transformed how information is disseminated and consumed. Traditionally, media served as a cornerstone of democratic societies, providing citizens with essential information for political engagement and accountability. However, the rise of digital platforms, particularly social media, has introduced both opportunities and challenges. While digital media has democratized access to information, it has also fostered political polarization, the spread of misinformation, and the fragmentation of public discourse. This review explores the complex dynamics of media’s role in contemporary democracy, examining how digital media influences public opinion, political participation, and trust in democratic institutions. It also highlights the importance of media literacy, the need for regulation of digital platforms, and the critical role of an informed citizenry in sustaining democratic values. Ultimately, it argues that while media plays a pivotal role in shaping democratic processes, addressing its challenges is crucial to ensure that it continues to support democratic ideals in an increasingly interconnected world.
Rakul Preet Kaur Copyright (c) 2025 Journal of Advanced Research in Journalism & Mass Communication https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://adrjournalshouse.com/index.php/Journalism-MassComm/article/view/2237 Sat, 03 May 2025 00:00:00 +0000 "Emerging Trends and Innovative Paradigms: A Comprehensive Review of Future-Forward Developments Across Industries" https://adrjournalshouse.com/index.php/Journalism-MassComm/article/view/2238
Innovation continues to shape the future of industries worldwide. Ethics in journalism is vital for upholding the integrity of news reporting and ensuring that media serves the public interest, especially in an era where information is abundant and the distinction between fact and opinion is increasingly difficult to discern.

In the digital age, the rapid dissemination of information through online platforms has brought about new challenges, such as the spread of misinformation, sensationalism, and biased reporting. Journalists' responsibilities include presenting factual, well-researched, and balanced information, while also considering the impact of their reporting on the public, the individuals involved, and broader societal discourse. Media platforms must also adapt to these challenges, maintaining ethical standards despite technological advancements and the pressure for faster, more engaging content.
