Abstract

The microscopic structure of classical liquids is governed by the in-terplay between interparticle interactions and collective correlations. In this work, we investigate the structural properties of soft-core flu-ids using the integral equation framework of liquid state theory. The radial distribution function, direct correlation function, and static structure factor are obtained by numerically solving the Ornstein–Zernike equation with the Percus–Yevick and Rogers–Young closures. A purely repulsive Hertzian potential is employed to model soft, de-formable particles. The influence of interaction strength and density on structural correlations is systematically analyzed. We show that increasing the softness parameter drives a smooth crossover from soft-particle behavior to hard-sphere-like structure. While the Percus–Yevick approximation provides reasonable results at low to moder-ate interaction strengths, the Rogers–Young closure captures longer-ranged correlations more accurately at higher densities. Our results demonstrate the effectiveness of integral equation methods in con-necting microscopic interaction potentials to experimentally accessible structural observables.
