Improvement of Clayey Soil using Rubber Scrap and Marble Dust

Abstract

This work presents the result of laboratory study under taken to investigate the effect of marble dust on strength of highly plastic clay soil. In the present study, we added marble dust and rubber scrap to improve the properties of clayey soil. Locally available expansive soil is used in this study. Main aim of this research work is all about improving the properties of clayey soil. In this work we have prepared 20 different samples to study the variousproperties of soil by adding 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% of marble dust with 3%, 6%, 9% and 12% rubber scrap in each of the above sample. In this work two soil tests are used which are standard proctor test and unconfined compressive strength test to obtain the Optimum Moisture Content (OMC), Maximum Dry Density (MDD) and compressive strength of soil mixture.
