Abstract

The study is a survey to carry out the structural and functional evaluation
of flexible road pavement of Siddhartha Highway. Structural and
Functional evaluation is a measure to determine the serviceability of
the highway pavement. It is significantly important for maintaining the
riding quality, carrying out repairs and maintenance of the pavement.
The study was focused into two parts; structural evaluation of pavement
followed by design of overlay and functional evaluation followed by
rating of pavement. As a case study, a section of Siddhartha 2-way
2-lane Highway (H10, now renamed NH047) from Chhorepatan to
Kubhinde was selected for study. As a part of structural evaluation,
the study showed the need of overlay over the existing pavement for
strengthening the load bearing capacity of pavement. On the other
hand, for functional evaluation, the pavement was found out to be in
fair condition and possible maintenance measures were recommended.
