The CUSTOMER PERCEPTION TOWARD EMERGING GREEN PRACTICES IN BANKING SECTOR

Change is the nature of law. The present scenario of banking operations has considerably increased carbon footprints of banking sector. It is the need of hour today that banks should take a leading role to handle environmental and ecological aspects as a part of their lending principles. Green banking is concerned with combining operational improvements, technology and changing client’s habits in banking business. The adoption of green banking practices will not only be useful for environment, but also beneficial for greater operational efficiencies, a less exposure to errors and fraud, and cost reduction in banking activities. This paper highlights the green banking initiatives taken by Indian banks to study the perception of customers towards emerging green banking practices.
