Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic has caused a huge impact on economics, healthcare, and social life across the globe. Evidently, technology has an important role to enable ubiquitous and accessible digital health services in such conditions and against “re-emergence” of COVID-19 disease during post-pandemic period. Accordingly, 5G systems and 5G-enabled healthcare solutions are essential. This paper highlights methodologies to utilize 5G for digital healthcare use cases and its role to make available relevant digital services. It also provides a comprehensive discussion of the implementation of 5G in healthcare, its issues, possible remedies, and future research scope for 5G to alleviate the health challenges faced due to COVID-19.
