Abstract

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has become an indispensable tool for engineers and researchers across various disciplines, enabling the simulation and analysis of complex fluid flow phenomena. In this review article, we explore the landscape of CFD software, focusing on Gambit and other modeling and simulation platforms. Gambit, renowned for its user-friendly interface and robust meshing capabilities, remains a cornerstone in pre-processing for CFD simulations. Alongside Gambit, software such as OpenFOAM, COMSOL Multiphysics, ANSYS Fluent, and NUMECA contribute significantly to advancing CFD modeling and simulation. We discuss the features, capabilities, and recent advancements of these tools, highlighting their role in addressing challenges in aerospace, automotive, environmental, and biomedical engineering. Furthermore, we examine emerging trends such as high-performance computing, machine learning integration, and cloud-based simulations, shaping the future landscape of CFD. This review aims to provide insights into the state-of-the-art in CFD software and its implications for research, innovation, and engineering design.
