Abstract

Design engineering is a pivotal phase in product development, demanding meticulous planning and scheduling to meet project objectives efficiently. This review examines the significance of effective planning and scheduling methodologies in design engineering processes. Challenges such as complexity, uncertainty, and resource allocation are discussed, along with strategies to address them. We delve into the utilization of project management tools, task breakdown, risk management, and resource optimization techniques. Case studies including Toyota’s lean manufacturing, Agile methodologies, and NASA’s project management practices highlight successful implementation strategies. Through this review, we emphasize the importance of proactive planning, iterative approaches, and collaborative practices to achieve efficiency and quality in design engineering projects.
