Abstract

This review paper is regarding the topic of Lean Manufacturing. “Lean Manufacturing” is a production practice that aims to cut down inventory on the shop floor of a manufacturing firm. Its origins extend deep into the history of Japan, manufacturing work in strict material control policies and seek to achieve almost ‘stockless production’ and ‘zero inventory’ as possible. The goal of Lean Manufacturing or seven zeroes (zerodefects, setup time, break down, handling, lead time and waves)all endeavour to achieve zero inventory to produce what is needed when needed, there by eliminating storage and capital costs tied to inventory. History in the making of American society is explored and differentiate with the Far East. It encompasses definitions, benefits and implementation measures of lean tools and techniques in the literature review and analysis of the study on lean manufacturing implementation of thinning Techniques explored to implement lean methods in a car manufacturing firm-whether (and how) car manufacturers can reduce their costs by using the same and what changes need to be made to the process of making them available. Advantages, weaknesses and declines may be encountered when trying to implement a lean method.
