A Review of Value Stream Mapping Approach for Large E-Commerce Industries

Abstract

The Value Stream Mapping (VSM) approach involves the various steps and related activities for the transformation of raw materials into finished products. This approach has been found to show significant changes in the business process by scrutinizing the process of the workflow right from the beginning till the end the representation of the every process is done in the visual manner involving all the material and information flow. The VSM approach has further involved the waste elimination and making the workflow efficient by reducing the cost and waiting time in the production system concerning the product and services of better quality that is able to satisfy the requirements of the customers. Therefore, the present study aims for presenting a review on the effective value stream mapping approach for the e-commerce industries. The implementation of VSM approach in the e-commerce industries helps in production of better quality of end products which would further increase the economy and helps in the growth and development of the business at higher level. The present review papers involve the basic concept of the VSM approach along with its advantages, applications and its tool analysis. Some of the major evidences have been illustrated in the paper for justifying the effectiveness of VSM in the e-commerce sectors. The literature review has provided various evidences that have evolved a positive impact. The findings and discussions have been depicted from the existing literature that helps in better understanding of the effective use of VSM approach in e-commerce industries.
