Abstract

This study explores investor preferences between app-based and AMC-based Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) platforms in Ahmedabad, focusing on factors such as age, trust, convenience, risk perception, and satisfaction. With the increasing popularity of digital financial tools, understanding how demographic and behavioral factors influence investment choices is crucial for financial institutions and platform developers. Data were collected from a sample of investors, and various hypotheses were tested to determine the relationship between age and several key factors influencing platform preference. The results suggest that while age does not significantly influence reliance on digital platforms or satisfaction with investment modes, factors such as trust, ease of access, and perceived convenience play a more critical role in shaping investor preferences. Trust in the service provider, whether AMC-based or app-based, remains a universal determinant for investment decisions, regardless of age. Furthermore, while digital literacy and financial knowledge impact platform adoption, they do not show strong age-related divides. The findings have significant implications for financial institutions, suggesting that both traditional AMCs and digital platforms need to focus on improving user experience, building trust, and offering personalized services to cater to a broad range of investors. Future research can explore additional factors such as digital literacy, financial education, and the role of hybrid investment models in further shaping investor behavior in the evolving digital finance landscape.
