Abstract

Learning and Development (L&D) is an important Human Resource Management practice that improves employee competencies and organizational performance. This study examines the effectiveness of Learning and Development using Skill Gap Analysis among employees at Branded retail apparel store in Vijayawada. Primary data were collected from 60 employees through a structured questionnaire using convenience sampling. The data were analysed using percentage analysis, correlation, regression, paired sample t-test, and Skill Gap Analysis. The findings indicate that Learning and Development programmes significantly improve employee competencies and reduce skill gaps. Employees showed better product knowledge, communication, customer handling, teamwork, and problem-solving skills after training. The study concludes that competency-based Learning and Development programmes enhance employee performance and organizational effectiveness and recommends regular skill assessments and need-based training programmes.
