The Impact of AI Tools on Employee Productivity in the Workplace: A Literature Review

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a revolutionary force in modern workplaces, reshaping how employees perform tasks, make decisions, and manage workflows. AI-powered tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, automation systems, and predictive analytics platforms are increasingly being integrated into organizational processes to enhance efficiency and productivity. This study examines the impact of AI tools on employee productivity through a secondary research approach based on existing literature published between 2020 and 2026.
The review reveals findings from scholarly articles, industry reports, and academic publications to evaluate how AI adoption influences employee performance and to identify the key factors affecting its successful implementation. The findings indicate that AI tools enhance productivity by automating repetitive tasks, improving decision-making, reducing workload, and enabling employees to focus on higher-value activities. However, challenges such as technological dependence, job insecurity, limited digital skills, ethical concerns, and organizational readiness may affect successful adoption.
The study concludes that AI has significant potential to improve employee productivity when supported by effective implementation strategies, employee training, and organizational support. The review also identifies existing research gaps and provides recommendations for future studies on AI-enabled workplace productivity.
