Abstract

Consumers are likely to perceive various risk factors in buying products. Based on the combination of literature research and survey, this research identified the principal risk factors with respect to second-hand motorbike shoppers. This survey was carried out in Kathmandu valley with participants who had already purchased second-hand motorbikes or who intended to buy second-hand motorbike. This research identified the principal risk factors that second-hand motorbike shoppers face such as, the Socio-Psychological, Functional, Physical, and Time risks. Second-hand motorbike shoppers perceived higher physical risks with increasing age. And their perception of socio-psychological, functional and physical risks varied in relation to their gender, occupation, and income. The findings of this research contribute to second-hand motorbike sellers in formulating marketing strategies with a focus on the minimization of the perceived risk factors, in order to increase the sales.
