The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), as the apex monetary authority and regulatory body of the Indian banking system, plays a pivotal role in maintaining financial stability, economic growth, and monetary discipline in the country. Over the years, the RBI has introduced several regulations and policy frameworks aimed at enhancing transparency, promoting financial inclusion, improving risk management, and strengthening the overall resilience of the banking sector. These include reforms such as monetary policy adjustments, inflation targeting, implementation of Basel norms, the adoption of digital banking guidelines, asset quality reviews (AQRs), and macroprudential measures like the countercyclical capital buffer (CCCB). While the technical and operational impacts of such policies have been widely studied from an institutional or policy-making perspective, limited research exists on how these measures are perceived by future professionals entering the financial sector.
This study aims to explore the perceptions and understanding of MBA Finance graduates in Ahmedabad city regarding the impact of RBI regulations and policies on the current Indian banking system. MBA Finance students represent a critical group of future banking professionals, analysts, and policy influencers. Their perspectives offer insights into the effectiveness of financial education in equipping them to interpret, critique, and apply regulatory frameworks. By focusing on Ahmedabad—a major educational and commercial hub in Gujarat—this study attempts to capture views from a diverse and informed student base with exposure to real-time financial developments.
The research will employ a quantitative approach using structured questionnaires distributed among MBA Finance students across leading business schools in Ahmedabad. The questionnaire will include sections on awareness, understanding, perceived effectiveness, and perceived challenges of RBI policies. Specific areas of inquiry include the students’ views on monetary policy transmission, Non-Performing Assets (NPA) management, digital banking regulations, capital adequacy norms, and financial inclusion initiatives driven by the RBI. Descriptive and inferential statistical tools will be used to analyse the data collected.
